I have a Centrino 6205 Intel wifi card in my W530, but after I've installed the drivers and I try to start up WiDi, it puts up this cryptic message.

Anyone have this error before or know the solution to it?
I've also tried installing the latest Intel Wifi drivers off Intel's site. And in Access Connections, it doesn't show WiDi as enabled (the icon is greyed out).
FWIW, it's a clean Win7 install...wanted a minimal sized install on a new SSD drive...

Thanks...that version is 3.0.13.

It complained there was already a newer version installed when I tried running it.

So I found 3.1.29:

So it turns out I have 3.1.29 installed already.

Uninstalled it, and reinstalled w/ that download.

Same stupid error..."unable to start intel my wifi technology"
Sigh.
Gotta wonder what Intel was thinking w/ that useless message...at least offer a hint as to what it's looking for

I've got the latest Intel wifi driver according to this page:

Finally got it working.

Had to uninstall the proset driver (after downloading the latest of course) and widi, then reinstalled both.
So painful for a "consumer" technology

hey kenyee-- just out of curiosity, with what device(s) are you using the widi tech and how has your experience been? I hadn't even heard of it until I purchased my W520... it's definitely intriguing.

I'm trying to find one that works w/ the thinkpad and the samsung galaxy III, so I don't know yet.

From what I've seen, there's a 1-2 sec lag in display, so I don't think it's a magic solution that just works.
And HTC's One X implementation is pretty horrid from what I've seen (lag *and* choppiness).

I suspect it's really just for the two use cases of:
- presentations
- pushing netflix to your TV

Games are definitely out because of the lag.

WiDi is oldddd...two years maybe? Intel pushed it pretty hard w/ Sandy Bridge w/ their Centrino wifi adapters (the Lenovo ones don't work) way back, but I don't think it's really caught on. It probably needs 802.11ac wifi adapters to really work right...the current version needs two bonded 802.11n channels (300mbps) at minimum...
