Partitions changed to DYNAMIC and now Windows won't boot

#1 Post by Machinus » Tue Sep 11, 2012 6:12 am

I made a significant error when trying to format a new partition by letting Windows Disk Manager convert all partitions from Basic to Dynamic (I am not sure why this is even possible, let alone the default action).

My W510 boots just fine, but the bootloader no longer loads an OS. I had both W7P and Ubuntu 11 in the menu. Memtests were also available.

How do I fix the bootloader?

Perhaps this will help: How to install Grub from a live CD

You may also want to read up on the difference between Basic and Dynamic Disks.
