Hi guys and gals

I found a guy in my town, who's selling his W500 for 1000 DKK (150$), which is incredibly cheap.

"IBM / Lenovo W-500 Type 4061-2JG.
Windows 7 Professionel 64-bit (original Windows 7 CD included - OEM-version bound to this PC).
Display size: 15.4".
Resolution: 1920 x 1200 pixel.
Ports: USB / VGA / DisplayPort / FingerPrint reader / FireWire / cardreader.
Graphics card: 512MB FireGL V5700.
Processor: 2.53 GHz, Intel Centrino vPro 2.
Ram: 6 GB.
CDRW/DVDRW.
Bluetooth.
Harddisk: None."

He also describes the following issue:

Batteri: Only lasts for 5 mins, but a new unoriginal spare battery is included.
There is a crack in the frontpanel by the Touchpad. A replacement is included, but in the replacementpanel, the fingerprint scanner is broken.
The laptop hangs in the startup, I think it's a motherboard issue.

What do you think?
Should I go buy it?
Would I be able to fix it? What do you guys think the problem is?

Thanks for helping me :)
Regards, Frederik

Quick update.

I googled around, found that if a USB port on a W500 isn't 100% fine, that should be the issue, there's been multiple reports of freezing W500's bcs. of a USB port shorting it. Fixing the port should do the trick.

I'll go have a look at it later.

Update again!:

I bought it for 900DKK (130$), including an original 90W charger, 2 original 4400mAh batteries, 3 original front panels with fingerprint scanners.

Now to solve the USB port problem. ;)

Please let me know if ANY of you know anything about this, or have got any experience with it. :)

EDIT: Got it working perfectly now, put some silicone stuff in the USB port, so that I'm not gonna accidently jam a USB device in there. ;)

Apologies for the language but all I can say is your lucky git!

That's a pretty bl00dy good deal you got there IMHO plus you can easily purchase a USB 2.0/3.0 ExpressCard to give you more USB ports if needed.

Really happy with it. But really, I would've never imagined that I'd get such a nice laptop for that kinda money. Next goal: 701ds :)
