2xVGA on thinkpad W510?

#1 Post by QWERTY Andreas » Sun Nov 04, 2012 12:29 pm

Hi
I have a W510 in a dock, but it cant drive 2xVGA monitors. I have one plugged in to the laptop and one to the dock. However its only the one on the dock that works.

Its a older dell with 1200x1025 and a Thinkvision L2230x with 1900x1080. Is it possible to use both displays at once?

Best regards
Thinkpad W500 (2.53 GHz P8700, 4 GB RAM, FireGL V5700, WUXGA)
Thinkpad T61F 14" (2.53 GHz QX9300, 6 GB RAM, Quadro FX570m 256 MB, SXGA). Advanced dock with AMD Radeon HD7750
Custom build ITX desktop (i5 4590, 8GB RAM, AMD R7 260X, custom watercooling)
Thinkpad 8, Fujitsu F-07C

You can certainly drive two monitors, but not both through VGA. Because the VGA port on the dock just replaces the one on the chassis. They cannot be used simultaneously. But you can use the VGA on the dock in conjunction with one of the DVI/DisplayPort.
