Upgrade W510 Screen to a Touch Screen

#1 Post by djmobil2 » Mon Nov 05, 2012 10:29 am

Hello there,
I have a W510 with i7. When I bought this one I took all the available options except the touch screen and a SSD. Now with the Win 8 it would be ggod to have a W510 with touch screen so, the question is Can I upgrade my current screen to a touch screen? What parts are needed? anyone has done this? Do it worth making the change?
Thanks for any advice, I really like my W510 so, I'm not considering change it for a while.

The lid, hinges, panel and front bezel all need to change. I would guess you would be better off selling your machine and buying a different one. BTW, I couldn't find any on eBay and just the panel is about $1400 from Lenovo.

OK, wow. Very insane price for just the panel. I'll have to wait for a several months before selling my current machine and invest in a new one because it'll be very pricey. Maybe I'll wait until 2013 Black Friday Lenovo's sale. lol
Unless I find one touch screen w510 selling for parts.
