Dropped W700

Gently dropped W700 in padded case. Booted up once after drop, now still boots up but no vodeo, backlight only, Help!

Sorry to hear of your trouble.

If you feel comfortable opening your W700 I would reseat the video card and video cable.

Is the screen white? It is normally difficult to disconnect the LCD cable, but it is possible on the panel side with the machine being dropped. The motherboard side is held down by screws and impossible to dislodge, but the panel side is held with tape, so if the screen is white, I would look behind the panel. (If the motherboard side is disconnected, the backlight won't come on either) If the screen isn't white, I would guess the panel was broken.

Thanks for the input. No, screen is not white. Took W700 apart, re-seated video board and LCD cable. No progress. What to do?

W700 parts are VERY expensive. I would certainly reseat the RAM and if you have more than 1 DIMM, try just one.

Can you hook up an external monitor and see whether anything shows up on it?

external monitor does work, although "jaggedly"
