Two questions :)

First of all, hi :) Finally a place with people suffering from lenovo like me. Maybe one of you could answer me the following questions, I've wondered and googled for some time:

1.On my W700 in the frame it appears I have a webcam. At least it looks like it and has a symbol next to it. Yet I cannot get it to work. It isnt recognised and installing the lenovo drivers also doesnt do anything. Is that just a fake cam over my sceen that's supposed to create the illusion of being watched?

2.I use windows 7. Quite often, when i click something in the right task icon area (dropbox menu for instance), the power manager pops up. Really annoying since that thing claims the right to be hovering on top of other windows and takes an eternity to load.

3.That's right, i'm making it 3. Gotta size the opportunity. When I got my W700 I am quite certain it was A LOT faster. It takes like 5 to 10 minutes to boot up now, like from turning it on to opening mozilla. I did not install any new programs (did update windows though) - and even used ccleaner. How is that possible? I don't want to reinstall, so i havent tried that. Is that a common thing? is it the windows updates? Once it started up, everything runs smoothly, even some games. Its just it take longer and longer to actually get there.

Thanks a lot!!!

1) Check your device manager (windows button + pause/break), click device manager in the top left. It should be listed under 'Imaging devices'. I believe the webcam was an option though.

2) Do you use the touchpad to get there? If I don't click it, it doesn't come up, but then again: I use the trackpoint, so no unwanted movements of the cursor. If I use the touchpad as primary pointing device + clicking it will register clicks I didn't make and not move while I want it to move (skin to dry / wet).

3) What storage device do you have? A HDD? How much free space is left on C:? Did you install Windows 7 on your own, or do you have the factory load? Any HDD is has from the factory is going to be slow, since the W700 is a 2008 machine. Any current 7200 rpm HDD will outperform it.

When I replaced the 120 GB 5400 rpm disc of my T61 with a 320GB 7200rpm one, average read doubled and accestime dropped significantly.

Thanks for the reply

1)it's not listed there. however i can see the lense in the frame. to they sell fake lenses?

2)No i click with the mouse, and i definetly dont click on the wrong button...it's a 30% chance when i click something there (like volume or dropbox) the power manager will start.

3)i'm not sure. i did resolve this issue though. windows action center was fighting skpye. also throwing out a bunch of unused services from autostart really did wonders.

thanks again!

1) if there is a camera installed then it should have a cover that looks like this http://i01.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/622/587/ ... 22_531.jpg If the W700 does indeed have that cover give this a try: boot into BIOS >> Security >> I/O Port Access >> enable 'Integrated Camera.' Do not forget to press F10 to save the setting before exiting and restarting. After W7 has started check device manager and see if the integrated camera shows up under 'Imaging Devices.'

2) You could remove 'Power Manager' from the task bar which should eliminate 'Power Manager' from opening up. Right click on taskbar >> toolbars >> untick 'Power Manager.' Give this a try and see if the 'Power Manager' opens up. When you say you are using a mouse have you tried another mouse? Perhaps using a different mouse may give you different results.

3) seems like you have this one under control now
