Welcome to the club, and I guarantee you will enjoy this machine.
I wasn't able to figure out the color calibrator on mine-but there isn't much to tell about the tablet and stylus.
Always buy genuine batteries-I went through 3 aftermarket batteries with generic cells, all had power problems, causing random shutdowns when on battery.
The W700 comes apart like legos, and in a similar fashion as the T60/T61, T400/T500. There are two large diameter fans for both the CPU and GPU, and both can potentially be swapped for better hardware if you don't already have the best. The best processor is an X9100 Core 2 Extreme or a QX9300 Core 2 Quad Extreme. The best video card is a Quadro FX 3700M.
If there's any other questions, you're free to ask on here.

Awesome! Ya, It has the qx9300, 8gb, fx3700, and 1200p display. I cant wait for it to get here so I can wipe it, and install clean Win 7 in RAID 0.

I have just gotten one as well, and boy this thing is HUGE!!!
It is also one of the thickest I have owned.
I have yet to post my small "collection" but here are some photos (most are 3MB in size)
Clockwise from the top: W700DS, 365XD, X61T w/ Ultrabase, A31P

I thought the A31P was big and a 15" 4:3 T60 comes to second but I was wrong...
Side by side with an A31P
Here is a another line up: W700DS, A31P, 14" T60p, X61T

Hell the power adapter is
big as well!
I should of posted a photo of it next to the Xbox 360...
It is slightly twice the size of the 365 series...
At attention

Just for giggles

That's really cool. And nice pictures-really interesting grouping of Thinkpads you've got.
Yep, that W700ds is at home next to that A31p, but it still dwarfs it, an absolute laugh.
It's a mighty Thinkpad, I just love the absurdity of it's size. I do hope you enjoy yours, congrats on finding it!

Thank you Medessec, it had some small scuffs but it is an excellent machine.
It surpasses my 4 year old desktop in overall performance.

And the dual fans is a treat for warming up cold hands during winter.

Heh. I always love using Thinkpads(especially G-series) to warm up the apartment instead of Central Heating, it's probably less expensive and more fun anyway.
The W700 is absolutely crisp, and the performance is amazing, especially with the 3700M.
We'll have to see if arty_harvy posts any pics of his W700, it's really crazy how much slimmer the W700 looks without a hump-back for the second screen.

First time I see the A31p looking so tiny in comparison!
Nice find! I hope I can get one some day as well... Enjoy it!

I think I'll be fine for the next four years with this baby!

Originally I was gonna drop $900 for a Dell Venue Pro 11, but I saw this randomly on eBay and well... I bit it and didn't let go.
I also like how the keyboard can be swapped from a T60 as well, and the WUXGA screen is beautiful.
I scoffed at laptops before I gained an interest in Thinkpads, when I first got my X61T I saw a W700DS as my dream laptop that would never be possible.

For gaming it seems this will play Dota 2 perfectly seeing as my desktop can hanlde it and this TP has a bit more juice than it.
Photoshop will be a breeze, but Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas will be fun on this machine.
Being from the desert, dust is a big factor so I'll be on top of dusting these heatsink fans every three weeks at the very least.

The 3700M is based on the 280M if I recall correctly, so it'll beast anything that uses early Java/OpenGL, and DirectX 9. DirectX 10 games will suffer a bit, and there is a lack of DirectX 11 technologies.
The W700 does a pretty good job holding it's own against dust compared to other performance machines... but it would be good to keep an eye on it and clean it where possible.

DS model is ridiculously thick... no question. The standard W700 however is still pretty thick, and it's always bonkers to get a good comparison with other Thinkpads, such as in the pics you took. The W700 is probably one of the largest laptops I've ever seen dimension-wise, meaning wide and long, not thick. Excluding those stupidly large HP DVXs of course.

I thought the W700 & DS were the same size. xD
Nice desk you got there btw arty!
Very clean compared to mine.

W700 and W700ds are the same dimensions long and wide, but the DS is much thicker due to the second screen. I call it a "hump back", because it slopes up in the back and has a square front.

Very clean compared to mine.
Please don't ask me to take pictures of my workplace.

I had just cleaned mine up from the docks, notes, parts & TPs I was parting to give space for the W700. I wouldn't doubt it'll become cluttered within a month from me using it.
