AFAIK Sharp never officially made LCDs for IBM or Lenovo.
You probably bought a "100% compatible" screen, with a different pin layout from a Lenovo-spec screen.
An LCD having a bad ribbon usually means, that one or more of the column- or row-drivers has come loose from the LCD.
This then results in things like your vertical white line.
Having that white line is either an indication of incompatibility, or proof that it is faulty.
Another possibility: you got the wrong LCD cable.
So by using them, you now have a few options:
- you have a bad screen
- you have a bad cable
- you did not connect either of them properly
- you blew a fuse on the motherboard
- you destroyed some other electronic parts on the motherboard.

Maybe it still works on an external monitor?

He's probably tried getting a Sharp LQ154M1LW2A, which works for T/W500 and 15.4 T/R/Z series

@1mouse3: please make sure you got the model mentioned above, many Ebay sellers often sell "compatible" panels that don't work. Let's hope you didn't mess up your laptop... :(

That's definitely a faulty screen with disconnected column-drivers.
You can't fix that.
The other screen with the bad cable (what cable?) may be a different incompatible version.

Is that an LG-Philips LP154W02 (TL)(06) or (TL)(10) with a Lenovo P/N or FRU? (which one)

well cleaned all the corrosion off this t500 board that came as a complete base I got, there was no hope in saving that water damaged board. it still shows no sigh of life, so guess I am going to get another board or set. I am not hurt on it but I keep having bad luck with these parts, I only paid $30 for it as a bios passworded board. I am not going to mess with that lcd again, but will get another sharp lcd I like it. I am to the point I could had just bought a working one
