Hi peeps I just got a W510 that is coming in next week without a power adapter and I was wondering if I can use my power adapter on it even though it doesn't pump out as much power?

The ubiquitous 20V/90W charger, as used on T6x/R6x and newer will do fine for W510 with Dual Core CPU.
The 65W is underpowered for W510, only use as a temporary solution.

Edit: W510 with Quad Core CPU need the 135W adapter.
They could also use the 170W adapter if the machine has a matching slotted/grooved(?) DC-socket.

As far as I understand, turbo boost will be disabled if you don't use a 135w PSU.

I got my W510 and I am using the 90w psu but it has performance issues :/ I have to use Power Saver to get stability in programs that lag like video games will lag bad in Balanced but not so much in Power Saver. I still have issues with games like Mw2 lagging for no reason at certain times while playing. The same goes with thumbnail previews of pictures.

I do not own a W510 but I suspect that your W510 most likely needs the 135W power adapter. The quad core processor and GPU in your W510 are most likely not getting enough juice from the 90-watt adapter you are using hence the lag and lackluster performance. The more demand you place (gaming) on the unit the more power it will need to render the graphics etc.

Hi yes I might have to order the 135w soon than :/ I didn't know there was issues like this until I read about them :/ Yet some of those machines were shipped with the 90w right?

At peak the quad core w510 can draw as much as 110 watts power.

The Quad Core W510 always had the 135w PSU, I don't know about the Dual Core version.

Hi I have another question? Are these normal temperatures on Windows 8.1 with the W510?

You can safely assume that the W510 will overheat if nothing is done to prevent it.
