Intel Turbo Memory Questions IMD-0? Disk Queue Length

Thinkpad noob here. As far as I can ascertain, "Turbo Memory" is Intel marketroid speak for a cache to R/W to/from the main drive.

I'm wondering if I should uninstall the Intel Turbo Memory driver from my W500 (4063-3FU ). Side question: Does it even make sense to use this caching if you later end up using a hybrid hard drive?

To work, Intel® Turbo Memory Help says you need:
- A NAND flash memory size of 1 GB

Astrsa32 shows a "flash cache logic chip", but oddly, doesn't say how much. I wonder if Astra32 is misreporting its presence because the Intel Turbo Memory driver is installed. Window's Performance and Reliability monitor shows something called IMD-0 that looks to be ~1.5GB in size.

Intel® Turbo Memory Help also says you need:
An Intel® microprocessor that supports one of the following I/O controllers:
o Intel® 82801HBM Serial ATA AHCI Controller (ICH8M)
o Intel® 82801HEM Serial ATA AHCI Controller (ICH8ME)
o Intel(R) ICH9R SATA RAID Controller (ICH9R)

My SATA AHCI controller is listed by Astra32 as "82801|B/IR/IH (ICH9 Family)" which is close to what I see in the requirements.... but does not seem to match exactly. Am I in the club?

Now if I do meet the requirements, I *still* wonder if I should use the Intel Turbo Memory driver because I have a 1TB hyrbid HD I'll be putting in eventually. IIRC they market it as a "hybrid" drive because it has a 8GB cache.

As it stands now (plain HDD installed) Vista x32 reports Intel Turbo Memory Driver (iaNvStor.sys) and Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver - ia32 (iaStor.sys) are slowing down Standby and Hibernate mode. Windows' Performance and Reliability Monitor also "Average Disk Queue Length" as out of norms for having a Mean of 2 and a Max of 69. (Currently I am using a conventional HDD and not the hybrid drive.)

Can you guys bring me up to speed?
