W520 and 3440x1440, near 4k resolution - will it work?

#1 Post by Phidelio » Mon Sep 01, 2014 11:31 pm

I am thinking of getting an LG 3440x1440 resolution monitor so I am wondering; will it work flawlessly with the 520? I know the w530 should be able to handle this without problems, but dont fancy switching - especially with the new keyboard in mind. Any inputs on this from the community? Thx in advance!
Currently has a silly amount of Thinkpads: 600|600e|T20|R31|R40|R50e|R60e|T40|T40p|T41|X40|X40|X41Tablet|T61p|T61p|T61p wuxga
The best Thinkpad ever made? The T41p - hands down!
(feel free to comment but I dont think it can be argued...)

Nope, won´t work - W520´s maximum is 2560x1600, see: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product ... oductParts
Lenovo wrote:Maximum external resolution: 2560x1600 (DisplayPort)@60Hz; 2048x1536 (VGA)@85Hz; 1920x1200@60Hz (single-link DVI-D via cable 45J7915
You are right about the W530, this is the first model to support more than 2560x1600.

You might try an EGPU. Try googling for it.
