I'm going to replace failed MB W520 FRU 04W2028 48.4KE36.041 with other one which FRU number is the same but number is 48.4KE37.05

Does this one compatible with mine? Not sure what difference this makes?

I just wondering to replace the 04w2028 with discrete card 1000m to other which has 2000m for i.e. 04w2033
What do you think about compatibility?

Should I do that? I guess it would be good chance to make upgrade my Video card

The card is soldered to the board and can't be swapped.

The only way to upgrade the GPU is to change the motherboard.

So, that means there's no any problems to replace 04w2028 at 04w2033 -And my Thinkpad will work fine. Right?

I haven't taken the time to look up the motherboard FRUs, but the "lower" one can be replaced by the "higher" one and vice versa.

I have two W520's... One in my sig has the "better" 2000M and the other has a 1000M.

Oddly, the Windows Experience Rating for "Graphics" for the W520 having the 2000M is about one full point lower than for the 1000M. I know this is not a reputable measure, but nevertheless that puzzles me.

When you run the assessment I would make sure that in the BIOS the GPU is set to discrete only.

How do I set that? I have the current Lenovo BIOS v 1.42.1.36 and I don't see a GPU setting inside my BIOS settings (pressing F1 during boot-up).
