HDD running slow in HDD Bay Adapter III (Thinkpad W520)

#1 Post by Arf the Lab » Fri Dec 05, 2014 1:22 am

Hello.

I recently added a second HDD to my W520 by means of the ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III (authentic Lenovo product). It's 1TB, split into two 500GB volumes. Although it works fine, I noticed there's often lag times when accessing/loading data. I've used similar IBM/Lenovo Ultrabay caddies in other, older ThinkPads and never had this problem. Any ideas as to the cause of the problem, and how to remedy it?

Thanks.

Check that HDs properties in Device Manager.
Maybe it switches off (saving energy) when it's not being used for a certain amount of time?

Did you get used to SSD's in the meantime?
