I everyone!

I currently use a SSD Samsung 840 EVO 250GB as my main storage, but i have a 500GB 7200rpm HDD so i'm looking for a Ultrabay Caddy to put HDD or the SSD. I wonder what are the speeds for read/write.
I've seen on Ebay a ton of these but i don't know what to choose so i need some help in this situation.

Best regards!

Have a great year!

Few months ago I bought ultrabay caddy for my T400 (6$ from China) and it work fine. My old hdd have few bad sectors and it is not in good condition, but speeds are ok (maybe 10% slower).

Look for authentic Lenovo accessory 43R1980, 'ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II'. FRU PN: 43R1984. You can also use newer part, ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III.

Be careful. There are several types of HDD caddy for Lenovo machines. First of all check connector on your DVD drive - there are two types, classic SATA and one flat something. You must have the same connector on HDD caddy, they are not interchangable. And second, measure your DVD drive. Lenovo made 2 heights - 9,5 and 12,7 mm. You can put the 9,5mm one into 12,7mm bay, it will work, but it won't look nice.

I have bought ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III (FRU P/N: 43N3429 ) and it works like a charm with my Samsung 840 Evo 250GB SSD!

Very Happy!

W500 has real SATA in the UltraBay. Anything that makes the physical connections will be Just Fine -- not like the older units (T61, etc) which needed to translate the PATA UltraBay to SATA for the drive -- these varied in quality/performance.
