W510 performance evaluation ?

INTEL CORE i7-620M (2,66 GHz)
8 GB DDR 3 RAM
15,6 FULL HD 1920 X 1080
NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M - 1 GB
Dysk SSD 128GB
Windows 7 home

Well, I feel a little disappointed. I tried play in Men of War.
Recommended requirements are: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 256 MB graphics card (GeForce 8600 or better), 4 GB HDD

Results:
In the native resolution 4 fps , sometimes up to10 fps. At 1280x720 and cut-out detail - 6 fps up tu 20 sometimes
Is this normal with such a configuration?

The second thing, I tested the 3D Mark 2005. I do not know why the test is sometimes start at speeds of 5-8 fps regardless of the resolution, and sometimes launching and flying towards 20-30 in the native.

Result on top settings is over 3500pkt.

What do you think about ?

No that's not normal. It sounds like your system is over heating and causing throttling.

Have you repasted your CPU/GPU?

You have an FHD panel, which is nice, but gaming at that resolution is going to be slow as you've noticed.

Go into the game setting and drop everything to the lowest and see how it runs. Slowly increase the settings until you are happy with FPS vs. quality.

I built my own PC (Lan Cool Case) that I affectionately call the beast. 16gb of ram, 4.5ghz i5 3570k and a GTX 970 with an assortment of SSD's and a RAID O array of 2TB worth of Samsung F3 spinner drives. I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit on it. It's not the fastest gaming PC but can run any game on ultra settings @ 1080p with 60fps+.

For fun I once ran Insurgency on my T410s with Nvidia graphics and a 2.6ghz CPU. These thinkpads are not gaming machines.

I have a couple of T510 models with Nvidia graphics and a i5 2.53ghz processor. I don't have the W series or an i7 processor but I will run a benchmark of 3D Mark 2005 and give you my results.

Could you check how to switch graphic cards, Nvidia and Intel ?. Probably it sholud be here: bios -> config -> display.
But there are only display options (lcd, projector), nothing about GPU.

I was in the process of posting my 3Dmark05 scores but I had a bad version of 3D mark. I wouldn't post my score. I am downloading a different version. At one time I have heard the T510 had switchable graphics but a bios update removed it. I can't even chose integrated graphics in the bios. So mine is 3100M graphics. I have a 120GB SSD in this machine. I hadn't booted it up in 70 days.

7186 3DMark05 score. On standard stock settings. T510 with Nvidia 3100M, 2.53ghz i5 and 8gb of ram.
CPU score 16999.

Stock settings, just click benchmark. 1024x640 I think for the resolution.

In the Men of War is 18-25 fps in absolutely top settings !

But in 3D Mark 2005 in standard settings: 9165 and CPU 7015.

No they are designed for business uses and CAD. That being said, many of them are quite capable at gaming.

Before I quit, I used to play World of Warcraft on my T410. If I dialed the settings down I could get around 30fps. It would dip to mid 20's if I was doing casual raiding. Keep in mind that the T410 has a weak NVS card. The card in a T510 is much more powerful.

If you guys are expecting to game a FHD resolution with 60fps, then you're going to be disappointed. That being said if you're willing to drop the resolution, texture, AA settings and so on down a few notches, you shouldn't have to many issues.

If you want a gaming laptop, do not look to any business class laptop for this purpose. Use one for work and light / medium casual gaming.

Yes, I think my CPU reading was incorrect but my 7186 3DMark05 score. Nice score for your i7 processor. My score was on maximum performance for my i5. That is as good as it gets for my T510.

A messed up environment, too many running processes esp. if they're memory hogs like, can often degrade your gaming experience.

I was crazy and played Need For Speed World MMOG on a T42p. With no browser or antivirus running I could get 25-30 FPS and race competitively. Still crazy tho. 1.8 Ghz Pentium M is below the minimum requirements. But it worked.
