why no touch screen display for w701 etc instead of the odd pad for editing?

why do none of the W5xx or W7xx series offer a tablet style display with reversible hinges etc for things like digital editing and other tablet functions? hardly no IBM Lenovo laptops offered this, why and what made them not offer it? is it poorer display quality or ware and tare on screen?

W510 was available with a touchscreen option, as was T410. Hinges were not reversible, though.

My presumption is that these sold very poorly and that an expensive two-in-one would've fared a lot worse...
