W520: Is it possible to boot from USB?

For some reason I cannot boot from a USB. I set the boot order to USB HDD first. If I press F12, I don't see my USB drive as one of the 3 options. I have HDD, DVD-drive and LAN there. I tested the pen drive on a Acer machine and it boots up fine. I am using a Transcend 4 gb pen drive, formatted to Fat 32, trying to boot Ubuntu.
For whatever it's worth:
My UEFI/Legacy Boot is set to Both and UEFI/Legacy Boot Priority is set to Legacy First.

The USB 3.0 ports need a special driver but you should be able to boot from the USB 2.0 ports.

Really? I tried that port but it seemed like that port didn't even have power. My pen drive has an indicator light which turns on whenever I plug it into a USB port that works. I tried booting my PC up using all 3 ports (2 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0). Only the USB 3.0 ports made that indicator light turn on.
