Yes, this one. I don't if you can put classic keyboard inside it. Standard T430 will accept it though. No possibility of whitelist removal on xx30 series machines and newer.
I considered this advanced dock in the past and it still looks like quite good option. But I wonder if I could use external GPU with built in display? And what GPU I could put in it as it is quite old now?
Nope. If you want it on internal LCD then e-GPU is the only option.

All GPUs that are within power cap. And there are lots of such, and pretty up-to date.

From T430/T530/X230 onwards whitelists CAN be removed, but you need a hardware SPI-programmer for that, such as
CH341A: http://www.ebay.com/itm/232408800540
or a TL866CS: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172771270642
You'll also need a SOIC-8-test-clip cable, such as: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330888425480
I have all of the above, but haven't tried them out yet (lack of newer Thinkpads).
Some people also use a Raspberry Pi.

Hold it, I never said that!

Nowadays it is on an individual basis, PER MACHINE, with a lot of hardware handling involved.
Not like the previous general modded BIOSes that fitted on EVERY machine of that type and which were just installable software!

Because the root of all buisness problems, money
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Which one? There are plenty of 2Ghz ones. The Q9000 runs at 2Ghz.

When my T61p threw fits, I replaced it with a W530 and in theory a better internal WiFi card. But times change, an older machine often has crappy WiFi at best. So for $15 I picked up a 8"(?) long dual-band USB/WiFi stick. Throughput and range both went up tremendously. Yes, I'd prefer an invisible internal card...but this was SO easy, so inexpensive, I figured WTF I can always use it on other computers, or when I'm not home and simply need the better range.

"Bigger is better" still is true when it comes to antennas.
This...earlier this year I noticed many of the networks I use began switching from WEP to WPA2, which my T41's internal Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 card is not compatible with. So I bought a Netgear N600 Dual Band (WNDA3100) at Best Buy. I use this on my T41, it works great, and Netgear products are still compatible with XP. Only $25 or so on sale, and I can access the 5GHz "blue" network at school (I have slower 2.4Ghz "amber" at home). I still believe the external wireless USB have better range than internal WiFi.

T400s + 2503 dock w/some old good powerful radeon in it? Cool, quiet and light if needed, powerful when on dock, CHEAP.
T400s does not fit the Dock 2503. Only the regular T400 does. Not quite as light as the -s, but still probably the lightest machine that fits the 2503 dock (esp. if you configure it with the useless 4-cell battery, or without one at all).

Why useless?

T400 is lightweight, and with P-type CPu and LED LCD still gives pretty nice battery life. Put in an ultrabay battery and you're good to go with cheap, light unit with a decent battery life. Plus, you can upgrade it with IPS screen. I wonder if Monty has a LED set for those screens. Add in a T6x era NMB keyboard, and you have a great system on the run.

I have got such unit (bought from a forum member here), it lies on the shelf but it was able to run ~5hrs no problem with SSD and ultrabay battery + 4-cell batt. With switchable graphics you have enough power when mobile or docked.

Put in an ultrabay battery, and all the weight savings on the smaller battery are lost.

Since when can a T400 be upgraded with an IPS screen? Did I miss something?

UB battery weights just a small bit more than DVD-RW, and wanting T400 that sticks to 2503 dock and has reasonable battery life. 4 cell offers around 3hrs office work, and with 4+3 you can get close to 5 hrs, still being light and compact.

My mind is lacking sleep really. I was mixing X200, T400 and R400. All T400 screens are crying in shame compared to FV. I think R400 has the best option of AUO WXGA LED afair, X200 has its tablet screen but I can\t remind any reasonable option for T400.

I will finish here as it turned into completely useless argument I will not further enter. A fast system for one man will be slow for another. T400 is the lightest unit that can sport 2503 dock, and is cheap nowadays. In my opinion it is a good option for the OP.
