W500 drivers for Win7

#1 Post by durmada » Tue Jun 27, 2017 3:00 am

Can anyone help me locating Win 7 drivers for W500?
Lenovo Drivers and Software on the https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/ doesn't provide anymore drivers for older Thinkpads.

hi

i have big trouble getting the win7&xp drivers to work on this laptop, so maybe someone has some good files that i could use?
i already tried g1ic09ww.exe and oss803ww.exe, but none of these work - plus the first one is actually for somekind of 7 series/c216 chipset, but even the oss803ww.exe "mobile intel 45 express chipset" didnt install anything at all... - i still have lots of "Base System Device" items in device manager and the yellow exclamation mark in front of "Pci memory controller" also...

well, all of the Eol drivers seem to be in here:
https://download.lenovo.com/eol/index.html

but what the heck is wrong with the installation then or what is the difference between somekind of "7" and "ww" drivers?
one of them actually said that "7 series/c216", but can't 100% remember which one it was (probably was g1ic09ww).
and does it do anything harmful to the machine if i install the wrong one or can i uninstall it later somehow? (it doesnt show anything in control panel).

and which program would be the best to see the actual name of the chipset? it basically even shows 2 different Gpu-s with hwinfo app(radeon+firegl), so how do i even know which one is correct? (and what is the actual chipset then...)

also - i usually like to install chipset drivers first because that might make all of the other devices work/install better, but now when there is this weird issue with chipset drivers - would it even matter which drivers i install first?
