W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
All the links I've found are dead.
I know there are a couple 1.3 BIOS out there with the whitelist removed but does anyone still have it?
https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/p ... uj12us.exe
Thanks
Jim

Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
Hello Jim
for my rather vintage lenovo w701 id like to upgrade my LTE 3G mini pci Express to a more modern card and got error 1802
is your exe in post 1 the solution to get rid of the white list?
or do you have it stored away at a different location?
best regards
Leon

Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
Sorry for barging in, but what do you exactly mean with the whitelist removed? The whitelist for the WiFi card or other elements as well? (Because it would be awesome if the whitelist for the GPU is removed as well). I own a W701 and wouldn't really want to install a BIOS which I don't know is working and corrupt my main and only machine. Thanks in advance!
Edit:
And ahah the link is not working, so it'd be awesome if you still have it tucked away somewhere!

Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
It just works with the wifi card whitelist, not the graphics card. Coreboot might be able to solve the GPU problem. I can try to find the unwhitelisted BIOS.Zastrix wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 5:22 amSorry for barging in, but what do you exactly mean with the whitelist removed? Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
This whitelist bios only removes the wifi card restriction.
I do own a w701 too, now with Dual Band Wireless 7260AC Model 7260HMW
Works lika a charm...

Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
I've downloaded it, thanks! I'll upload it on my Dropbox soon (or at least create an alt Dropbox account) so I can have a permanent link and I'll post it here. I have an W701 exactly and thanks for specifying the model of the card. Would be awesome to get the 5GHz and BT 4.0. I think that the W701 has 3 antennas connected on the main WiFi card. Can you tell me which ones did you connect? (I don't know whether Bluetooth uses an antenna of it's own)
Edit:
Edit:
Is this wireless card better than Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300, Dual Band? I found one 7260AC on a local marketplace and unsure whether I really need to get it. It seems that the 2.4GHz WiFi speed is better on mine card. And on my card bluetooth is not listed while it is listed on the 7260AC. Would it be a good choice to get the other WiFi card?Plexar wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:24 amThis whitelist bios only removes the wifi card restriction.

Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
It'll be better for sure. Increased speed depends on your BIOS though. Personally I'd recommend an AX200 in an adapter, or modifying the chinese mPCIe version to have both antennas connected.

@Zastrix:
connection is easy: plug the gray cable into the jack labeled MAIN and the black cable into the jack labled AUX on the 7260AC
Please take a look in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for further information (Page 103).
And yes, the 7260AC is definely better than the 6300 - if you have an AC WLAN.
You may want to check the comparison:

You can get them off eBay and AliExpress, they're often listed as the "AX200HMW" and go for around $20 and up, this is the cheapest one I could find: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803817888335.htmlknubbze wrote: ↑Thu Jun 01, 2023 4:46 amSorry to bump an old thread, but do you have any more information on these mPCIE AX200 cards, or a link to where to buy one? For now. In a few years we'll have WiFi 7.
Be advised the AX and all other Wifi 6, 6E, or WPA3 cards are not supported in Windows 7 if anyone is a luddite like me. We'll just have to survive with our Wifi 5 and gigabit ethernet.

Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
The AX210 supports WiFi 6E, which is slightly faster than the AX200 with WiFi 6. Unless you have a router that supports it (and maybe even if yours does), save your cash. You probably won't notice the difference either way.knubbze wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 7:47 amThanks! Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
The AX200 is WiFi 6 - dual band (2.4 and 5 GHz) operation with HE support for 802.11ax. The AX210 is a major step up to WiFi 6E, because it is a tri-band WNIC and supports the new 6 GHz band. Wider channel widths and better throughput without the congestion on 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Re: W701/W701DS Whitelist Bios
Would the AX210 require new antennas because of the 6GHz band? I mean, its frequency range is 5.9-7.1GHz, compared to the 5.1-5.8GHz range of the 5GHz band.
