W510/520 palmrest compatibility
I see that the W510 and W520 seem to have different palmrest parts, but I was wondering if anyone has actually tried putting a W510 palmrest on a W520. I just ordered a used W520, but the palmrest looks like it has some chips on the corners. I have a fresh W510 palmrest that I'd like to put on it if possible. I could check it myself if it comes to that, but I'd rather not remove the W520's palmrest unnecessarily due to risk of breaking the plastic clips.

Re: W510/520 palmrest compatibility
I tried that ages ago and it did not work, if I remember correctly is because the mg frames are slightly different.mattventura wrote: ↑Thu Jul 05, 2018 8:21 pmI see that the W510 and W520 seem to have different palmrest parts, but I was wondering if anyone has actually tried putting a W510 palmrest on a W520
I took some pictures at that time, I'll post them here once I find them.
Edit: Found them! I merged two pics into one. Remember this was taken long ago, don't ask me which is the W510 and which the W520

You also risk breaking the W520 palmrest if you accidentally leave screws in before removing it - I ripped the palmrest right off the screw cylinder, dissassembling my T520. The plastics are incredibly thin in this generation.

Re: W510/520 palmrest compatibility
Thanks for the tips. The good news is that the palmrest on the W520 is actually in pretty good condition. The photos made it look like there was a big chip taken out of the corner, so maybe the seller re-used photos from a different auction.
The keyboard, on the other hand, both looks and feels bad, so that's definitely getting replaced.
