I reloaded Windows 7 on my T520 from Windows 10. I just didn't like it after trying it out for over a year.
Windows 7 does run very smoothly.

Windows 7? Gone? Sooner than later?
There are still people running Windows 95 on their recreational old systems. You can still find physical copies of Windows 95 for sale on auction sites.
The real questions are about the capabilities of the operating system, and how they align with the demands of the modern computing world.

7 64 bit will continue to be very usable, even after the updates stop.

I have yet to meet anyone who is able to present me with a verifiable and convincing "first person" case of getting hacked solely due to lack of WU...

I have two vintage systems (Pentium 133 & Pentium 200) setup in my office for null modem retro gaming. Those machines are not connected to the WWW however.
It's impossible to browse the internet with these machines.
