W-520 OEM Touch LCD part number for 04W1511

#1 Post by wsalomon » Fri Dec 07, 2018 9:45 pm

I was investigating a replacement Touch LCD FHD panel for FRU 04W1511 and trying to locate the OEM's part number. I'm guessing this is an AU Optronics as the non-touch version (FRU 04W1544) is an AU B-156-HW-01 (V.4).

Any thoughts? And thanks in advance.

You might find your answer here:

I have T520 and plan to get AUO B156HW01 V.4 for an upgrade.
However, I found out that there are three different FRU numbers for this panel, all seem to be in use by lenovo.
42T0765, 04W1544, 04W1511.

The first one, from what I know, is most commonly installed on T520's.
The latter two, 04W1544 without a touch panel and 04W1511 with a touch panel, seem like they are more rarely found according to what I've found on the web.

Here is the question. Are they all of the same quality?
I'm going to purchase the panel from ebay, and 04W1544 is much cheaper than 42T0765.
I can't find 04W1511, but I'm sure it's multiple the cost of either one.

After doing multiple searchings, I think the answer may be that both of the these refer to the AUO B156HW01 v.4 (matte), but what isn't mentioned is anything about the touch mechanism per se. I am wondering since the listing for the 0$W1511 is for an "assembly", that it is for the B156HW01 v.4 *and* an overlying digitizer that has no FRU # This woulds account for the need for a deeper rear cover and possibly different LCD bezel.

There appear to be several manufacturers of digitizers - perhaps more info to follow.
