I swapped out the keyboard. I plan to open up the screen assembly and take a look at the second screen. I also want to upgrade the palmrest to the Wacom one and try and find a Lenovo-compatible Quadro FX 3800M.

As for the second screen, xrandr in Linux doesn't detect it and Windows doesn't detect it either. There's no sign it's even connected. I'll try the drivers on the Lenovo page and research about opening it up.

On an unrelated note, I got the 15.4" 1680x1050 T61 in the picture for $30: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LENOVO-T61-Int ... 663.l10137

Hi, check the signal cable, maybe it's loose? There should be two of them connected to the mobo. Also, there must be a switch signaling sliding the screen out, maybe the mechanism got stuck?

Like in every thinkpad most of the parts are easily accessible and you should manage to remove the keyboard and upper cover or the screen cover to check for your second screen there. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. Here's a picture of the inside:

I reseated the second monitor cable (top right) a couple times, no display/backlight/detection. I'm going to read the service manual and open up the screen assembly when I have more time this evening.

Since I'll have the screen(s) open, I'll buy and add in a Bluetooth adapter (FRU 60Y3303) while I'm at it.

my guess the white cable taped to the gpu heatsink (on the right) drives the extra screen. The main screen able is fixed with two screws, the white doesn't. Also, check the wiring of the slide switch, I'm certain there must be one. Also, have you checked in good light whether there is any image on second screen but no backlight?
