simialr post in t510 sub topic

#1 Post by pclaptop23 » Fri May 01, 2020 5:29 pm

Which is better a Lenovo Thinkpad T510 or a W510?

They both have the same amount of ram 4gb, and similar 120gb ssd!

What is the max ram for each above (T510 and W510)

Both are running Win7 Ultimate

thanks in advance

And what processor are installed in each? What monitor is installed in each? Is there a dedicated video card in either model?

What is the machine type number on the bottom of each unit?
A31p P-IV 2Ghz, 2MB, 2653-R6U
T500 T9600 2055-BE9
T510 i5 4384-DV7
T510 i7 4349-A64
T520 i7QM 4242-4UU Highly Modified

T510 THINKPAD
cpu i5 m520 @2.4ghz
8gb ram
Intel HD Graphics

lenovo type 4349-3au
date mfr 10/05

W510 THINKPAD

cpu i7 m620 @2.67ghz
8gb ram
Intel HD Graphics

lenovo type 4318 - cto
date of mfr 11/02

As far as i can tell, there is no dedicted video card? Just an Intel HD on board GPU.
I didn't know laptops could have a dedicated "CARD" ? maybe a different on board GPU nVidia for example.

and the monitor is the one that is attached to the laptop, your questions seem to refer to a desk top not a laptop?

Both of these machines are EOL (end of life) but they (Thinkpads in general) are TANKS!

They can take a lot of abuse i have used them for field and service work and they get bounced around a LOT. My friend wants a couple for his kids while they are quarantined at home to login to school. no heavy gaming graphics or cpu power is needed!

They also have beaucoup accessories. for example the cd/dvd slot can be an extra hdd or battery. They also can conjoin with a docking station for extra USB ports as well as video out choices!

The W510 should outperform the T510. The W510 has a 720QM and FX 880M discrete GPU.

I have four W510s still running fine with Windows 10.

SSD is very important for acceptable performance.

W-series usually support higher resolutions on the notebook built in LCD than their T-series cousins.
W520 (2960XM, 1000M); W520 (2920XM, 2000M); W520 (2860QM, 2000M); W520 (2720QM, 1000M), W510 (720QM), W510 (720QM), W510 (920XM)
