How to find screens specs of my W520?

Hello everyone,

I need to replace the screen on my W520---big black spot about 1" in diameter has developed on the top corner. But I don't know how to find out the specs and (hopefully) the LCD panel specific info.
Here is what the sticker for my Thinkpad W520 says:

TYPE 4276-37U
S/N R9-DENVD 11/05
PRODUCT ID: 42763TU

A search on Lenovo's parts page, shows the followiong (among other info):

Title: AUO 15.6FHD
Part no: 04W1544
Mfg. part: 0A66631


Can anyone tell me how to find out what those number correspond, i.e. which kind of after market replacement LCD panel should I be looking for?

For finding the model of your installed LCD I like Monitor Asset Manager. https://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm

The LCD part number is the 04W1544 which is what is called the FRU (field replacement unit).

I would only use the genuine Lenovo part and not a so called compatible part.

As you have been advised FRU is often the best way to search for Thinkpad parts like this one online. Search engines find them. ebay sellers often (though not always) put them in item descriptions. Your search btw also shows

42T0765

as another "Equivalent" FRU in addition to 04W1544. So I assume you could search for one and then for the other. FHD, led backlit, indeed I think that's probably the best panel to wish for in a machine like yours (or mine, I humbly own two T520 but with screen panels that are less fine than 04W1544. I could probably upgrade to 04W1544 one day..)

That 04W1544 is an AUO B156HW01 V.4 screen with FHD (1920x1080)
