Vertical USB ports only ?

#1 Post by Puppy » Thu Jul 17, 2008 5:43 am

It seems as all three USB ports are vertical again ? Check the picture on Page 2 of the PDF specification file.

You're right, but it does look like they offset one of them to give it more space for thicker devices.

Unfortunately some USB device are more "wider" than thicker so the only option would be to move your ThinkPad to the desk's corner :-) Many USB digital TV receivers for instance.

So if they were horizontal they would block whatever port was next to them? It sounds like if you have a big bulky USB device you should invest in a 4 inch USB extension cable, or the manufacturer of the bulky item should include one.
Doesn't the USB specs specify an approved size for a USB object?

um, no. The T61p has two USB ports on the right top side. If anything was REALLY wide, it would only be blocking the optical drive.
