We'll probably have to wait until machines are actually released (if only for review) before we'll be able to tell.patton73 wrote:More, is the keyboard quality the same as the old IBM t42/t43 keyboards?

In my opinion the T42p is one of the finest ThinkPad T series ever. I still have mine and it's a fantastic model. I like it much better than the T43p I had.Bashar wrote:i have T42P would it differ alot on the new W500 to me?

Windows key + crappy keyboard material.
There is something wrong here.
Why do they need to save weight from the keyboard?
why don't they use hi-tech materials to save weight instead of ruining the MAIN feature of the thinkpads?
I must touch it before decide to buy.

I found the Windows key useful in Ubuntu Linux too, I configured in a way so that it brings up some of the 3D Compiz features.Pocket Aces wrote:The windows key is pretty handy in Vista, since the start menu lets you type your search keyword right away.

This issue is being discussed over in T400/T500 forum in the following threads:

provided a link to buy a non-mushy T60 MNB US Eng keyboard, which is repeated here for convenience sake:
http://www.upgradebay.com/c1_itemdetail ... =168713627
I went ahead and ordered one "just in case."
I don't know yet if I'll hate the keyboard on my W500, but I figured that $55.00 was pretty cheap insurance, and the way Lenovo shipping is going, the keyboard will arrive before my W500 does.
