How did they test the file transfer rates :?: 32 MB/s is pretty low for a performance RAID with two 7200 rpm 160 GB HDs...

Another preview of the W700 can now be found. They say they will have a full review after they run more tests. Kind of weird that you cant find anything online about the w700 for a couple weeks and then 2 reviews show up on the same day.

I see, that's supposed to be the "high quality display with color calibration, blah blah ...". Check the last display picture - LOL. T60p is king forever !

#7 Post by ThinkPadToday » Fri Oct 17, 2008 2:13 pm

We have posted a ThinkPad W700 video review on the blog. This video was shot at Photo 08 Summit hosted by Microsoft and featured some of the the worlds top professional photographers being introduce to the ThinkPad W700.

Included were such photographic geniuses as Bambi Cantrell, Mathew Jordan Smith and Dennis Reggie.

Bambi Cantrell herself has actually commented on the post. If you want to find out what the pro's think you can watch the video and read the full review here.

What I'm looking for is a side by side comparison with the Dell M6400 and some real benchmarks on 3D apps though!! As of today there's no real review for the W700. Some sites just give a bunch of numbers but don't compare the results with anything or if there are other notebooks, these are no near the power of the W700...

For all the lucky new owners of the W700, please post some comments and benchies!!!!

Agree. A review, without comparisons is no review.

I've compiled a list and descriptions of fifteen {UPDATED 11-14-08} W700 reviews, which you can see here:

http://www.buy-a-thon.com/reviews/W700- ... tm#reviews

I'm also keeping tabs on the laptops that compete with the W700, and you'll find everything I have on them here:

http://www.buy-a-thon.com/reviews/W700- ... ompetitors

I'll add any reviews I find of those units to that section. If you want, go to the top of the page and you'll find a link for an RSS feed that you can subscribe to (in the "What's New" section). So, as soon as I get wind of the reviews, I'll post them on the RSS feed.

Basically, the following page represents my effort to take 160 pages of notes I've collected while researching the W700, and to distill them all down to one page of links. I'll try to add links on that page to anything that W700 users feel is useful. If anyone has suggestions or comments, I'm all ears (the page has a suggestion box):
