I got the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) LCD display of my new W500 replaced under warranty. It had four defective pixels.

According to this document, displays with three or more defective pixels (regardless of the display resolution) are eligible for replacement under warranty. At first, the technician of the Lenovo repair center was not aware of the existence of that document. So, if you have to get your LCD display replaced, be sure to cite it.

In my opinion, however, LCD displays should be shipped only if they have exactly zero defective pixels. There should be no compromise on this. Even more, faulty displays are even less tolerable if installed on workstation-class notebooks such as the W500!

Fortunately, my WUXGA W500 has no dead pixels. However, if I were to find any dead pixels on it, Lenovo would be hearing about it very quickly.
