Hi, I was just wondering, will a 4GIG intel turbo memory work of the w700? plus does it work with raid on?

Good news guys, I just installed an intel 4gig turbo memory in my w700, at first, I installed the drivers from intel website andnd it crashed. So, I then unistalled it and went to lenovo's website and download the latest "Intel turbo memory drivers" and everything works now. right now, I'm running it with RAID 0 on 250X2 HD.

Just saw your post, where did you buy the memory?

I brought it off ebay for around $50. It's a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Also Kingston told me that will start producing 4 Gig Ram modules at the end of December.

Kingston is producing 4GB Ram for the W700, $850 each, hope I have them soon.

Here's my report on my first week with the Intel 4GB Turbo Memory installation and Intel Turbo Memory Console 1.7.0.1029 and Intel Turbo Memory Dashboard.

First, I recommend this thread for much more knowledge than I have about the uses of the module:

The installation was easy. I practiced it once before my module arrived and then went through it with the module. Basically you remove screws from the bottom to remove the palmrest (and attached fingerprint reader and WACOM pad connectors) and then the keyboard (one more screw and one connector) and then the number pad (one screw from above and one connector) and then the speaker bezel (screws and another connector).

The mother board already has the screws for the extra mini-PCI connector, so the module went in with no problem in about 20 seconds. Then put everything back together.

The driver software installs two applications:
Intel Turbo Memory Console and Intel Turbo Memory Dashboard.
The console controls ReadyDrive (which is supposed to speed up Vista launch and performance) and Readyboost (which is supposed to speed up applications launch).
With a 4GB Intel Turbo Memory module, you use the Dashboard to pin applications to Readyboost space. Readyboost control in the Intel Turbo Memory Console is grayed out. Apparently with the 1 gb and 2 gb modules, Dashboard is an option but it is automatic with the 4 GB module.

I bought the module to speed up boot up. I cannot tell that it works. I boot up in about 3 minutes with my W700 including QX9300, 4GB ram, two RAID 1 configured Seagate 7200 RPM 320 GB hard drives.

However, the pleasing surprise comes in speeding up applications. Every application I've pinned to Readyboost launches incredibly fast. This is really noticable for me with Outlook, my book keeping program, and Internet Explorer 7.

So, I can verify that the Intel Turbo Memory definitely works with RAID with the newest Lenovo driver downloads and that it really works to speed up applications. I might have done something wrong causing me to not notice any change in boot up and shutdown.

One site I found said that the 4 GB Intel module is preconfigured for 3.2 GB of ReadyBoost and 0.8 GB of ReadyDrive.

I think I'll start using Sleep and Hibernate instead of ReadyDrive to speed up "boot up" after going from the office to home and back.
