AMT in W500

When I bought my W500 back in October 08, there was no option for whether or not you wanted AMT in the system (or any mention of it in the customization page). It was, however, mentioned in the system descriptions. However, I noticed that my system only came with a "Centrino 2" sticker, not a "Centrino 2 vPro" sticker. Today, I figured I should set up AMT, only to find no options in the BIOS for it. So I updated to the latest 2.12 BIOS, and still nothing. The drivers for AMT never installed properly, but I attributed that to me running a server os on the laptop. Is it possible I (and probably many other early W500 owners) got shafted and don't have AMT?

The parts page for your machine lists both an AMT and a non-AMT systemboard for a 4058-CTO. You need to check your shipped parts list online to see which you have. The original parts list is a link off of the warranty page. Do a warranty lookup on that machine type/serial# and you'll see the link.

Well, that parts lookup confirms it. My system does not have AMT. Does anybody else who ordered a W500 around that time period have AMT, or was there some optional part it was included with? I included my build sheet below for reference:

If you order a W500 today from lenovo, there are (3) choices;

ThinkPad W500 with discrete graphics
Enhanced ThinkPad W500 with discrete graphics
Elite ThinkPad W500 with discrete graphics

The Enhanced and Elite models offer you the 'option' of AMT or not. The regular Thinkpad W500 model does not offer the option, you get AMT period. I'm guessing you ordered an Enhanced or Elite model and did not choose the AMT option. Either that or the option was not available earlier on.

When I ordered my W500, they didn't have the Enhanced and Elite yet. They just had 1 "W500 with Discrete Graphics" that you could customize. It didn't mention AMT like it does now (with the graphics card). Maybe the only gave it to business customers at first?
