ATI FireGL v5700 vs Nvidia fx Quadro 2700m ( Modding,Games)

Questions put More Simply

1) if modded to its radeon counterpart (ie the Radeon 3650) keeping in mind it has 512mb GDDR3 ram. How much better would the FireGl v5700 (modded) compare to the Radeon 3650 (in the T500).

2)if modded to its GeForce counterpart (ie Geforce 9700gt i think). How much better would the Nividia Fx Quadro 2700m (modded) compare to the Radeon 3650 (in the T500) and the Above hypothetically Modded FireGL v5700 (modded to a Radeon 3650 with 512mb GDDR3 memory instead of the base 256 Memory Radeon 3650 in the T500 notebook).

3) Anything you wish to add regarding the possibility of modding, or if you wish to point out something that i in my ignorance have missed.

I am about to buy a new thinkpad, and was wondering about the capabilities of the two cards.
(ATI FireGL v5700 vs Nvidia fx Quadro 2700m)
What i originally intended to do was use the Modded v5700 driver for some possibly moderate-to-heavy games (driverheaven provides driver, though v5700 isnt supported yet, but apparently it isnt much different in performance from the 256mb T500 series counterpart, so the way i figured, as soon as i got a modded driver, i would be able to get more performance from the v5700 FireGL) but i realized that the v5700 might not actually give me any such performance even if i did put in modded drivers. And now i am wondering whether to get a W700 just for the Quadro 2700 so that i could have a more powerful card.

Right now i am running a desktop with an Evga GeForce 9600gt.ko, and ideally maybe the quadro 2700 can beat that (even if modding is required to get it there). So any help direction/information/advice-where-to-look would be appreciated.

Btw, i checked the FAQ's and the Search, i found seperate reviews of Both cards, but both not for games with possible driver modding that i would be doing with the help of the people on this forum, so maybe someone who actually has similar ideas, or interests could help me out.

Thanks :)

Why isnt anyone replying ?

Is my question just really that stupid ? (i know the Quadro is better , i just need to know theoretically after modding how much)

Is the number of my posts too small ? and people think i have made the account just to ask my question ? :(

Is it because nobody knows ?

Why ? Why ? Why ?

Hello :)

1. Not much better - extra memory makes little difference, in most games ; and even in the more memory intensive games, 3650 just isn't enough to make use of the extra memory to make drastic difference. It's the GPU core that makes the difference, not so much as the GPU RAM.

2.I hope I make this clear, with 48 SPs, FX 2700 is in similar class as Nvidia 8800m GTS, which is very fast for gaming. While it doesn't perform anywhere near 280m GTX/4850 mobility, it's still very fast card.

The GeForce and Radeon series are meant for gaming; the professional Quadro/FireGL version of the same cards simply aren't - they latter are designed for accuracy in OpenGL apps, with reliability in mind. With massive amount of money spent for its driver, testing and retesting, they are priced much more steep than same GF card, but big companies requires the reassurance - more expensive doesn't automatically mean they are better - they are better for 3D modelling, but they are not really optimised for gaming - Nor are Thinkpads, if you want to play games, get a Gaming laptop, with GeForce/MR series is designed with gaming, more for DirectX apps, which are what most games are in.

V5700 is barely better than a 8600m GT, which is a long way off FX2700.

FX 2700 ought to perform similarly to the 9600 card you have, but it simply cannot outperform the desktop part, due to lower SP count, and lower clock, as well as rather low overclockability relatively.
