Which display to choose ?

Hi

Just got my new Thinkpad W500 2,8 ghz 4 gb RAM. 32 bit Vista Business

My question is (possible a silly one..):

When I want to adjust my screen, I can choose between three different:

1. Thinkpad Display 1920 x 1200 on ATI Mobility Fire GL V5700

or

2. Thinkpad Display 1920 x 1200 on Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

or

3. Standard screen on ATI Mobility Fire GL V5700 (this is external screen.. right ?)

Which am I to choose ???

And how do I set it up, so that when I connect it to my docking station it does the following things:

1. shuts down the Thinkpad screen and only uses the external screen

2. allows me to close the lid, without the computer shutting down

I hope the questions are not to stupid

Regards Tooms

1. Create a presentation director scheme (Fn+F7), or use one of the predefined ones (external LCD only). You may sometimes have to apply it manually when you dock, but it only takes a few seconds.

2. In the Windows power management settings, change the action to "do nothing" when you close the lid.

Thanks I'll try that :D . What about my question regarding which screen to choose ? The first looks like its using the grafics card and the other looks like its the chipset... What is the difference, and what to choose ????? :)

This could be the switchable graphics thing. The chipset GPU uses less power and increases battery runtime, the ATI GPU is more powerful for 3D tasks. Use whatever suits your needs at the moment.
