unable to use bluetooth on W510

According to this article, if I type in bluetooth in the "Search programs and files" Start menu text area I should see four items under Control Panel. Unfortunately, I only see three - the one I'm missing is "Add a Bluetooth device". Any ideas as to what I can do to see it?
I also tried going to "Add a device" in the Control Panel, as per this article and was unable to find my bluetooth enabled device, even though it was set up to be discoverable.
According to this lenovo.com article, version 6.2.1.800 of the "Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7, Vista - ThinkPad" added support for the W510. According to the Windows Control Panel, I have 6.2.1.100 installed. That version isn't even mentioned in the lenovo.com article. Were the W510's shipped with a bad bluetooth driver?
