W510 lockup on startup

Frequently when I start my W510, the start up never gets past the ThinkPad screen that says press Thinkvantage button. This can happen with a cold start, restart or start from Hibernation.
I cannot say this for certain, but it appears to have something to do with having something plugged into the USB port. When working at my desk, I have a monitor and USB printer hooked up. The monitor has a KVM switch attached to switch the keyboard, mouse and monitor between 2 computers. If I unplug this and the printer then the computer will start. It also will start if I have these connected and press F1 to go through BIOS setting (I don't have to change any settings).
Has anyone else had this problem?

Unhook one peripheral at a time to see if it is one device causing the issue.

I read on the interwebs that if you have something plugged into the blue USB 3.0 ports, it won't boot and that Lenovo is fixing it.

With the latest revision BIOS (1.12-1.08) it seems to depend on what is plugged in.
If I have my printer or MP3 player plugged into the a USB 3 port, it starts. If I have my KVM device (used to switch keyboard, display and mouse between computers) in a USB 3 port (on the side), the computer won't start up. But it will if I plug it into the USB 2 port on the back.

I can confirm this for my W510. Just happened again. The USB 2.0 port in the back is fine but the two USB 3.0 ports on the left side cause all kind of problems during start-up and occasionally after having something plugged into them for a long period of time. Still waiting for the fix...

humnn... seems lots of ple are not happy with USB3.0 & BOOT-UP option;
I for one, love this feature - where anything that is BOOTABLE; and if PLUGGED INTO these 2 ports , will ALLOW laptop to boot up from there.
So I am saving the CURRENT BIOS and the feature that everyone seems to hate.
NOTE: if any item that is plugged in and NOT A BOOTABLE DEVICE eg Printer or scanner, the BIOS will ignore and continue to boot from the next avaoible 'option' set in BIOS.
