I will agree. Sooner or later Lenovo will get the supply of W510 up where you can get them more quickly. They must be having trouble getting hold of "some" parts preventing them from larger production.

I did not have the luxury to wait. I was going to wait for one of the high end new Thinkpads with an FHD display but then my T61p developed a serious audio problem that so far Lenovo (or whoever does their repair work) has been unable to fix. So I had to get another machine. I ended up getting the HP DV8t (see specs in sig below).

This machine was a surprisingly good value (with instant rebates and coupons it came to only $1,230 before tax and with free 2 day shipping). It's a huge heavy beast with it's 18.4 inch FHD display and it has terrible battery life but the keyboard is not bad at all, the screen is gorgeous (best I've seen to date on a laptop (but I haven't seen the new Lenovo FHD displays yet) and the laptop runs cool for an i7 quad core machine and it's the fastest laptop I've yet had the pleasure of using.

I did not expect it to game well but even after 3 hours of CODMW2, which it plays very well on the highest settings at full HD resolution, the CPU is only in the low 80's and the GPU is even cooler. I actually am very impressed with many things about this machine, although there are a few Thinkpad things I miss, such as the Thinklight for one (remedied with a Mighty Bright LED book light). Among other things, the audio performance is phenomenal.

I have so far not spotted any W510's with FHD on ebay - and not any W701's yet....

[censored] :) my W700 screen needs to be upgraded to LED...

Y would you want to buy a new gen TP on eBay instead of direct or from a retail store. Only setting yourself to be ripped off IMO.

I almost bought a W700ds on eBay today, but decided against it at the last minute. Being honest with myself, I can wait. It's just becoming increasingly inconvenient as my workload complexity increases.

My guess is that the display panel is the hold-up, due to issues at the factories in China and/or Taiwan. HP and Dell too are having similar delays in shipping their business notebooks with high-end panels. It's not just a Lenovo problem; rather, it's just a bad time to be in need of a good notebook.

I live in the Middle East - so hard to find anyone who will ship and accepts paypal payment :-)

But on ebay I have a verified and confirmed US shipping address - so most sellers do not object.

But if you know of any who will give a good deal on a W701 or W510 - with FHD or WUXGA screen - with colour sensor and 920XM processor - then i'll appreciate a heads up. Dont care about HD or memory config - will put that in myself if needed.

If you know what you are doing you will not get ripped off on eBay.

I purchased my W510 there as they were in stock and not a promise with a "sliding date" from Lenovo! I paid a little more but got my cutting edge laptop NOW and not months later.

W510's _are_ readily available from Lenovo.

The only component that is not currently offered is the FHD display, for an explanation click on the link below.

Could not agree more - bought tons of stuff of ebay and only had one bad experience in about 200 purchases. Always select big sellers - with plenty of reviews of products in or above the price-range your are looking at. Most scammers sell/buy lowpriced items for a while and then suddenly start selling $2000 items... Don't go there...

I ordered a 820QM multitouch FHD model (4319-2RU) from this site today. They just got the stock in this morning and still have 4 left as of this posting.
