How do i use th gps in Thinkpad w500?

Hi. i have thinkpad W500 with gps.
every time i try to get the gps working the lenovo GPS program has the "Satellite Acquisition in Progress..." forever.. and nothing happens.
i use windows 7 64bit, and everything is updated.
the wan is turned on and i can get wan signal.
is there anything else i should do?

I've never had a GPS equipped computer but I would assume you would need to be outside with a direct line of sight to the sky in order to for the GPS antenna to be able to acquire the satellites.

Are you SURE you REALLY have a GPS installed. The software is standard fair for your model and you would not be the first that thought they had GPS when they did not.

How do I check if I got gps? I have heard that the laptop use the wan moudle for position. Is it true?

Hi!
I have the same problem on my W500.. A half year ago, when i used vista, the GPS could find my position, but in windows 7 it just "search" forever.
I know i have the GPS and it works, because it did under Vista

I have gps on the W510 and it's very picky ... nearly always need to have a good view of the open sky.
