Externale CD/DVD burner ...

#1 Post by Oaklodge » Thu Apr 22, 2010 5:27 pm

I'm thinking of using an extra disk in the ultrabay of my W510 and then configuring RAID.

Any sugestions for a fast compact external CD/DVD burner?

If you want something small, that means you'll be getting a laptop drive. They all perform pretty similarly these days. If you want to get a desktop drive, though not as portable, you'll get better speed and burn quality.

Just get the cheapest that will do the job. Amazon has a full array or if you are not scared to be seen there, Best Buy has several. I have used the same on for years and then put away only to dray back out for my NetBook. It does not even show a brand yet all my hardware seems to know what it is.

Recently I was also looking for a slim external DVD burner. To be sure what's inside, I decided to get a quality laptop drive and a separate USB case for it.

An external case for the burner that comes with the W510 would be good ...
Is there such a thing as a powered external ultrabay case ?
