Have had this new W510 for weeks now and never even touched the screen. All of a sudden I tried it and it works quite well! With a little practice is works very well and might come in more handy than I ever thought!
Touch screen or not this is the fastest and most powerful laptop I have ever used!

Not a lot of apps use touch screen well, it is sad. I use it mainly for the Internet and yes I own a iPad 3G, too. For some reason it really does well doing the Internet. Great for resizing pages and zooming on this screen which seems to have a lot of real estate due to it resolution.
I also use for large spread sheets and Word docs but MS could do more to make even this software more touch screen friendly!
Still nice to have. You can quickly reach up and scroll the screen of adjust the size way better than using the keyboard.

Nice to see that the people are just a friendly as they used to be here.
I will refrain from further comment so I do not irritate.

Wish I could agree with you ... I don't like the touch and am getting my laptop swapped out as soon as the FHD options come back.
1) I'm left handed and pointing to scroll bars on the screen is a pain ... I have to reach from left to right in front of me ... would be great if window scroll bars where on the left
2) I use the laptop for editing photographs and I can actually see a fine mesh over the entire screen, which when editing photographs I find distracting.

Hi Oak*...
I also noticed this
MESH EFFECT - and I thought I was 'seeing things'.... didnt bother me at first - but as I use it more and more - its a pain intheA***... altough i dont use it to EDIT MANY PIC FILES
(we use this for mostly DWG -autocad files with enbeded pictures - so msot of our ;editing is minor changes eg resize etc)
Curious - did you ever call MS & or Lenovo re this issue?

No, I didn't call Lenovo about it ... it's part of the technology ... if you look at the specs, there is a reduction in brightness with touch screen.
The good news is that Lenovo are willing to RMA my laptop and ship one without touch as soon as they are available again.
