i had this 2 x with a seagate 500gb momentus 7200 rpm drive. both times it seemed that after doing some upgrades (windows, lenovo) all of a sudden, while running odd things happend, like last time it could not find the blue tooth software, even though it was just unpacked, this time Symantec AV said it could not find its defs, upon a reboot it said no OS found and when i put it in as the 2nd drive, 100+gb were missing, my folders some were there but all were empty. Anyone have any idea? I did have a backup but was confused. Also since this is the 2nd time I am very concerned. Is it the combination of win updates and lenovo updates without a reboot? is it a bad drive? i tested the drive last time and did a chkdsk but all seemed ok. I replaced it with a new same type drive and have the drive running software to see if i can recover any files. any thoughts would be a great help :)

I'd start with running the Seagate diagnostic. Run the DOS (bootable CD) version.

I have that drive in my T61p with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and it is running flawlessly (even under constant load when defragging 3 large virtual machines (3 hours of constant work). This does not mean your particular drive is good, merely that the Seagate drive is, in general, a decent drive. ... JDH
