Gi'day Everyone;

I am kinda stumped @ choosing a new Display before ordering a NEW W510CTO for a family member.......Mostly used for DESKTOP PUBLISH'in Apps - MSOffice, ADOBE Apps etc etc. The user being a Communications Major has to do a lots of PRESENTATIONS - so .ppt; Flv; Mov; Mpg.... etc etc is heavily used (create; display & Presentations)

The Choises :

a) 15.4” WUXGA+ (1920 X 1200) TFT W/ Camera

b) 15.6” FHD (1920 X 1080) LED, W/ 2.0 MP Camera
(multitouch is not something the indifferent to user)Since most of time the user will be using NOT BE USING THIS LAPTOP to actually do the presentations - just to create - make them - the showing will be done via sperate equipement.

user currently has MAC PRO laptop - and not a BIG FAN of that.....

All input/help will be much appreciated

Cheers

The WUXGA is not an option for W510. You'll only have full HD (FHD) 1920x1080 resolution or lower. Only FHD screens in W510 have 95% color gamut; lower resolution ones do not. I suggest that you get the FHD screen, especially if you are using it for desktop publishing.

Hello tpri*...
nice to hear from you? do you have Adobe CS4 or 5 installed on yours?
if so can you share some light on its performances?
thanks in advance

My machine is connected rather permanently to a scanner (Coolscan 9000) right now. I do have Photoshop Elements 9 installed and have used it a few times to examine some scans. The machine is notably faster than my T60p and that is pretty much all I was looking for. The key to me was the display with the color calibration built in.

(I can't figure out how to use everything in Elements so CS4/5 are way beyond what I can grapple with.)

I agree... the FHD is very nice. I edit video and photos with my W510 and am very happy. (when viewing direct, no difference other than brightness as compared to my flexview T60p)

I have a T60p as my daily driver. After getting the W510 and looking at some photos side by side I had no idea how washed out my display was. I ordered one from the group in Taiwan. Took about an hour to swap. However, the FHD display still puts the flexview to shame. I imagine it is the LED backlighting.

I think that no one is getting "new" flexview displays anymore, they are probably all used replacements.
