Hi Geo*...
I have NEVER been a fan of TV Access Conn Software - infact I UN INSTALL of them ,,,,, and use STD Windows Apps (win7 has come a long way) Since you have W7xx ,,,, it seems such a waiste of 'resources' to be running these resource hungry (can do without apps) things ,,,,
my post here will give you what to keep - http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 41#p615341

So back to your question:
if you have Win 7 X64, Access Conn = a known issue @install of UPDATES, SO I would download the ACCESS Conn Software and REINSTALL it manually. Make sure you have ADMIN RIGHTS when you reinstall it.

Hope it helps
Cheers
mike

Thanks ausmike,

I'll do the new install but I'll also consider the removal suggestion.

on my w700ds model.....and ALL OTHER THINKPAD MODELS (have quite a few!!)

Only use these 3 items of thinkvantage:

1) Power Manager (gives u extra features -more than std windows PM)
2) hot key (gives you those blue/green gars @ volume buttons)
3) Thinkpad active protection *best hard drive protection EVER !!!)
4) FP reader (if with that option)

side note - if you ever seen the screen fromACTIVE PROTECTION - you will get a very good impression of now that application is being used for IPHONE/IPOD and most 'Auto-Rotation" when combined GYRO* etc.......

cheers

I uninstalled, or thought I uninstalled, PC Doctor and rebooted and then rebooted again but I'm still getting an event when I shut down that has "tvt_reg_monitor_svc.exe" as part of it. Would that monitor be part of PC Doctor or some other part of TVT?

Also, I do have fingerprint reader but I must not have fingerprints because I have tried and tried but can't use it so I've uninstalled it.

You don't run a RAID1 do you?

thanks

yes....RAID ....if you not use = waisted feature !

Tips re FP Reader
1) Enable in BIOS - FIRST STEP - (and also when u there -in bios - clear FP DATA)
2) SAVE * REBOOT

3) UNINSTALL and CLEAN any Dir that has had the FP apps , then REBOOT

4) Download latest FP Apps (win x64 link below
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-73585

5) Install it , and REBOOT (dont add fingiure data yet)

6) At reboot , hit F1 and than go to BIOS and set up " POW" = POWER ON PASSWORD >>hint dont make typing error or forget this password or you wont be able to relogin<</b]

7) save and reboot and this time it ASK YOU for PASSWORD ; type that in
and login to Windows ( MAKE SURE YOU are/have ADMIN RIGHTS )

8) Open FP reader Apps MANUALLY and type password and ADD FINGURE DATA ..> FO software often DOES NOT CREATE a "WINDOWS MENYU OPTION""....> you would NOT SEE FP reader from start > Programs > ..... >>>>NOTE : go to 'settings' and make sure you ENABLE SINGLE SIGON CALABILITY"
.......hint add min of 3 fingures - something I do in case I cut two fingures off ! lol

9) SAVE - and Exit and REBOOTand it willl/ SHOULD ASK YOU FOR FINGURE swip - and then it will log you in all the way to the DESKTOP

if you follow the above steps - things ought to be/SHOULD BE sweet!
Cheers

Thanks for the info.

What about the "tvt_reg_monitor_svc.exe" question. Would that monitor be part of PC Doctor or some other part of TVT?

I'm still trying to clean up my events log in an effort to stabilisze my RAID1 and that event keeps happening everytime I shut down.

I thought it had something to do with an earlier event I kept getting concerning PC doctor not being able to find something but now that I have PC doctor supposedly uninstalled I don't know what is triggering it.
