USB ports not working in XP Virtual Machine (W510)

Good day,

I use my thinkpad to datalog and adjust ECU parameters in my Subaru STi. To achieve this, I interface the Subaru ECU, Wide band oxygen device and a software hasp key to the thinkpad via USB.

The software I use requires XP so I had been using XP Virtual Machine with my old T60p (and it worked great). I have now upgraded to the W510 and am experiencing a problem attaching USB ports in virtual XP mode.

Specific problem:

* Only the USB port on the back of the W510 attaches successfully. (I plug in the device, select "USB" tab in virtual XP machine and highlight the device to attach it)

* When I try to attach any device to the two USB ports on the left side of the W510, I get an error: "Could not attach the USB device. You can attach the USB device to a different USB port or restart the virtual machine and try again".

It seems that XP Virtual Machine does not like the 3.0 high speed USB ports on the W510... Is there any way to configure XP VM to use them?

Thanks in advance for any information that may help me!

Don't know the answer to your question, but if you can't get it to work you could always try an Expresscard USB 2.0 card.

Thanks for the reply... hope to find a way to get the 3.0's to work but your idea looks like a nice alternative.
