w500 ethernet

#1 Post by sefoto » Mon Feb 21, 2011 4:54 am

hi,

I believe my issue is pretty silly, but I have no idea how to use ethernet card.
I have windows 7 x64 and usually I use wireless network, however today I had to use network cable, but my machine didn't recognize it. Furthermore win 7 has only one network interface installed.
Besides ethernet port is equipped with two LEDs underneath the port itself, but none of them are working once cable is plugged in.
How to install ethernet interface and what drivers shall I use?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Cheers
Seb.

In device manager, do you have any yellow flagged drivers?

Make sure Ethernet is enabled in BIOS.

Sorry for lame question - where shall I look for ethernet settings in BIOS?
Under Network sub menu? If so, then everything is enabled there and still nothing.
Perhaps I should try to install driver manually in Windows? If so, which driver shall I pick?

It's not under Network, it's one of the other config choices. There's a long list of devices and you can enable or disable them. I can boot into BIOS tonight or tomorrow to check.

o m g !
I never would look somewhere else than in 'network' menu.
Meanwhile all devices (wifi, ethernet, express card slot etc.) are listed deeper.
Thanks mate!
