Q9300 quad core vs. QX9300 quad core chip?

Hi all - I just picked up a used W700, and am wondering about a discrepancy in how the cpu chip shows up in different displays from how I -thought- it might:

It shows as an Extreme, 'Q9300', 2.53MHz in the usual places; 'My Computer', Device mgr, BIOS. Taskmgr definitely shows 4 cpu cores, so I'm ok there.

What has me confused is that I thought the W700 quad core Extreme laptops used the QX9300 chip.

Am I wrong in thinking Lenovo used the QX9300 or did they switch chips during the production run?

And, if Lenovo -did- switch chips, anyone know what the difference is between these two?

Interesting that the PSREF lists 'QX9300' in it's description of the W700 quad-core extreme laptop. Could be these chips really are QX9300, but the laptop always shows Q9300...

I want to overclock this cpu, and am wondering if I'm up the creek. Since this chip shows as an Extreme, I'm assuming it is eligible for overclocking, but as I'm new to this, I'm a bit unclear on the situation.

Could someone with a quad core extreme W700, 2.53MHz do a quick check and tell me how it shows to them?

Mine (2758-75G a W700 with Quad core Extreme ) shows up the same as yours in control panel and Lenovo Toolbox.

Thanks for replying to my post :)

My conclusion(at this point) is that the Q9300 reading on the panels refers to a true mobile quad-core Extreme, so should be fine.

A bit confusing, tho, in the way Lenovo shows it.
