W510 Upgrade x86->x64 - Rescue and Recovery

Hi,

I replaced my slow HDD with a brand new SSD. Kept my recovery disks.
I thought it was a good opportunity to upgrade my Win7 to the x64 version.
Reinstall went well, from windows to hardware drivers.

Unfortunately, I am unable to install Rescue & Recovery!

I guess it is because I don't have the small Lenovo partition anymore.

How should I proceed, to get R&R back?

Would a restore (R&R disks) and a windows upgrade (not a full reinstall) allow me to get BOTH win7 x64 AND Rescue & Recovery?

Thanks.

do you get an error message upon an install attempt?
reading: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... 1027en.txt
i didn't see a prerequisite of recovery partition.

currently, all of my in-use machines are running retail win7-64, so none have r&r as i don't like the overhead imposed. instead, i use acronis true image to make system backups to an external drive after a clean install+reconfigure and then on a regular schedule.

Thanks,

This was the idea that was growing in my mind. Let's forget about R&R then!

Ahah I feel welcome indeed.

For the record, I could not fin a prerequisite I had not.
Though, after extracting the installer (.exe, .tvt files and one more file) install stopped with an error message claiming:
"Installer could not locate .tvt file. Make sure .tvt file is in the same folder as setup.exe"
Approximately. Despite the fact that both files were in the same folder.

Anyway, I don't feel crippled by this loss. Thanks again.
