as title says, does the motherboard in these things have the ability to work with SATA III ssd?

The mSata drive is not SATA 3.0.

There are a few more threads about that on that forum and they are also including links to blogs and more stuff about that. I hope it will support it, because if it doesn't I will not buy the W520 for that reason. (I also want to have OCZ vertex 3)

At least for now you can't replace your hdd with a Vertex 3 because those aren't in stores yet

Also, I believe that the xx20 series was delayed because of the Sandy Bridge flaw- which also points to the ports being SATA III.

It's too bad they still don't have ExpressCard 2.0 functionality, though.

Yeah- W520 quad-core + Vertex 3 (or equivalent) = best from Lenovo you can get.

The W520 fully supports the speeds of the Vertex 3 (and I have confirmed it on the T520 as well).
