W520 does Sata III / Sata 6.0Gb/s

Got my new toy yesterday. For the record, Sata III works with a Crucial RealSSD C300 in the main hdd bay:

How do you find the machine in general? Sturdy? Nice monitor?

Its a tank compared to my T410s, thats for sure. I love the FHD screen. Would have preferred 16:10 over 16:9 but will manage 8)

I haven't really stress tested it that much, but overall it is pretty quiet. When the system is idle I can hear the fan in a really quiet room but not in the library. Right now I'm compiling something with 10 threads to put load on all cores and the fan is barely audible in the library.

Good to hear that it's not noisy. My W520 is going to replace a desktop that sounds like a 767 hurling nose first into a giant wood chipper powered by the energy of constant locomotive collisions.

In the library you mean you are on batteries? If so, remember that the notebook is clocked down so the temps -> noise is lower. Thanks

No I was on AC power.
